THE WATCHMANS HUT

NATURE
Most people will not venture into the woods without following a path. A path is a product of human culture and has the purpose of creating a system of guidance. Nature can appear as an unpredictable and uncontrollable force. Away from the artificial light of the city, one will in nature encounter pitch black darkness. This immense darkness makes a journey into the woods, ocean and mountains an experience of the extraordinary. One will be overwhelmed and enveloped by the clear starry nights one encounters only in nature.

TOGETHER ALONE
Nature evidently represents something apart from ourselves and the society we are a part of. It confronts. It makes you feel intimidated, tiny, insignificant...
The purpose with the Watchmans Hut is to create a space that inspires different artists to share this experience. Instead of direct human relation and interaction, we are interested in the inspiration one can experience by taking part of an experience others had before – a period of self-imposed exile in nature.

ARTISTIC INTEGRITY
We wish to create an integrity enhancing possibility for personal insight for artists – without demands of physical results. An opportunity for inspiration, tranquility and reflection. An opportunity that will have influence and bear results long after the stay in the Watchmans Hut. We believe that the project comes closer to its intentions by choosing an architecture that constantly reflects nature and the idea of the Watchmans Hut.
